About 609

In the beginning....

The Basingstoke branch of the British Sub-aqua club (branch number 609) was founded in 1973 by a small group of divers, then members of a local club at Reading. The club at that time had two small 4 metre inflatable boats.

Today....

We run an Osprey Viper RIB fitted with GPS, echo sounder and VHF radio. Fitted with a Tohatsu 90 outboard, is enough to get 6-7 divers (airborne or..) many miles out to sea for adventurous diving expeditions.

The club meets on Thursday nights at the Sherborne St John Working Mens club at around 8:30onwards.

Training. The club decided a few years ago to cease training and focus purely on diving. Running training is quite a burden on a small club. We know some really nice people in nearby clubs who would be more than happy to train you though if you are just starting learning.
